ALECSO that put ICIFE on the Arab World Map

Friday 07 October 2016: ICIFE International Advisory Board Member, H.E. Ambassador Prof Dr. Bubaker Almansori who is also Chairperson of ICIFE North Africa Chapter paid a courtesy call on ICIFE Founding President, Prof Dr. Khaliq Ahmad at IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF) Gombak campus. Ambassador Bubaker briefed Prof Khaliq on the outstanding result of his one month sojourn in North Africa meetings university and institutional leaders as well as the central bankers. Present at this courtesy call and briefing were ICIFE Exco & EPP7 Director, Assoc Prof Dr. Syed Musa bin Syed Jaafar Alhabshi and Exco & ICIFE Director, Dr. Haji Zulkifly Baharom.

The major breakthrough was linking ICIFE with the Arab League for Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) specialized agency having its headquarters in Tunisia. Dr. Bubaker was received by Deputy Director General, Br Mohamed A. Alkadassi and had meetings with all the Directors and even with the Director General, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Hamad Muharb via skype from Paris.


ALECSO established in Cairo on 25 July 1970 is an inter-Arabian agency of the Arab League constituting of 22 member states with branch offices in Egypt, Morocco, Sudan and Syria. Its activities embrace:
1. Development of human resource in the Arabic countries.
2. Modernization and reconditioning of education, culture, science and communication.
3. Promotion of dialogues and cooperation between the Arabic Islamic countries and the world.
Since 2007, ALECSO and Konrad Adenauer Foundation had an agreement with the aim to enhance the education and training system as well as to expand the relations between European and Arabic world.

On behalf of ICIFE Exco, Prof Khaliq extended heartiest congratulations to Ambassador Bubaker for the excellence initiatives in putting ICIFE on the Arab World Map. He accepted the request for ICIFE to conduct specific training programs for ALECSO members and the needs for Arabic speaking trainers. It was resolved for such training programs to be implemented either in November 2016 or first quarter of 2017 when faculty are available for focus training delivery at ALECSO in Tunisia.
